Celebrating the Release of Bedtime Blessings: God’s Great Love with a Three-Book Giveaway!

It’s here! It’s here! Today is release day for my newest picture book, Bedtime Blessings: God’s Great Love! The second in a series of three, this book explores the simple but powerful notion of speaking words of blessing over our little ones before they go to sleep.

Guess what? Courtesy of Paraclete Press, I have three copies to give away! Take a peek at how the book begins, admire some of the gorgeous illustrations by Natalie Merheb and be sure to enter the giveaway…

Beginning with the following words and inspired by Ephesians 3:18, God’s Great Love contains jungle-themed animals and reminds children that God’s love is wider, longer, higher, and deeper than they could ever know.

Little One, I pray for you, as you lie down to sleep,

That you will know God’s love for you, so high and wide and deep.

The book closes with four different blessings that can be personalized with the child’s name and invites parents, grandparents, caregivers or children’s ministry leaders to pray any of these blessings over the children in their care…

Oh, Glenys! This is BEAUTIFUL!! I would love a copy for my sweet baby girl! We just finished a study in our Mommy and Me group on praying the scriptures over our children. I think her favorite jungle animal will be a parrot since her auntie has 3!

I love the idea of praying a blessing over kids before they go to sleep and a book that builds the blessing into the reading/bedtime routine is genius! I didn’t learn about this concept until my kids were in mid to upper elementary school. Even with a bit of a late start, my kids memorized scripture this way and even used one of these familiar verses as their confirmation verses. My favorite jungle animal is the lion. I remember being at the zoo one day and the male lion roared. Wow, what a powerful sound! It sure was awesome and scary at the same time.

Thanks so much for commenting, Kristen. I too, only realized the power of blessing our little ones when my grandchildren were born, so it’s something I never used with my own children. (If only we could ahve our time over again!) Blessing our children is a very simple but very powerful thing!
