Celebrating the Release of Twas the Season of Advent With a Four-Book Giveaway!

Friends, celebrate with me! Today is the birthday of my first Advent book… Twas the Season of Advent!

I usually celebrate my book launches with a three-book giveaway, but this time, let’s do FOUR! This premium picture book contains 25 stories for the Advent season, from December 1st-December 25th, each of which is accompanied by gorgeous illustrations by Elena Selivanova.

Read on to peek inside the book, see how it begins, admire the beautiful artwork and then be sure to enter the giveaway!

“‘Twas the season of Advent, when all through the earth,
People were pausing to ponder Christ’s birth.
The bright lights were hung ‘round the doorframes with care
In hopes that Christmastime soon would be there…”

“Over the next twenty-five days, we are going to share in a wonderful adventure together. We’ll begin each day in the quietness of our own homes, perhaps gathered around the Christmas tree, while all the lights are twinkling in the darkness. And we’ll read together and learn about God. We’ll meet angels and shepherds, magi and Mary. We’ll spend time with Isaiah and Elizabeth and Joseph. And we’ll end up back where we began—at the manger, where God is waiting to introduce us to Jesus. And there, at the manger, we’ll worship and wonder.”

“Now a long way away lived three magi, or kings,
Who were scanning the skies for beautiful things.
When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But a star in the east, shining bold, bright, and clear.”

We love teaching our kids about the actual meaning behind these holidays/seasons! Honestly I know it’s not specific to advent, but that’s what I look forward to the most, especially now that our older son is 3. He’s starting to understand and be able to remember and communicate what we teach him. Looking forward to this Christmas season!

Lighting the Advent Wreath. The flame, the remembering, the waiting, the prayers, the scripture, and the awe of small children.

My denomination doesn’t really practice Advent. But I always center my December devotions around it. I love the fact that it is all about Jesus. It points us to the amazing day of celebration of His birth.

My favorite part of Advent is the anticipation of Christmas! Also the gatherings that take place even before Christmas.

Advent allows the wonder of the birth of the Christ child to grow slowly. The world rarely provides time for a miracle to unfold with a glimmer/glimpse over many days. Time apart to wonder and celebrate is precious…

My favorite part of Advent is lighting the Advent wreath. And the scripture lessons that focus on not just Jesus’ birth but in the second coming.

We are doing a series on advent in our kids ministry this Christmas and would love to win these books for our volunteers to read to our preschool classes and our toddler class!
